THE IDEA BEHIND ANIMUS EVO
ANIMUS EVO was inspired by the original Citroën C5 CrossTourer concept and its presentation in PSA press materials. When the CrossTourer was introduced, its factory modifications were remarkably subtle: discreet wheel arch trim and two diffuser-style elements. At the time, some automotive journalists criticised how modest those changes were.
I always wanted my own CrossTourer to look more convincing, more masculine and more adventurous — without losing the elegant proportions and distinctive character of the Citroën C5. That was the starting point for ANIMUS EVO. Explore the full ANIMUS EVO design and development story.
FOUR MONTHS OF DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
I spent almost four months developing the kit directly on my own car, making handmade prototypes, taking templates, refining measurements and carrying out repeated test cuts on a plotter. My goal was not simply to add protective material, but to achieve a coherent design that would look like a natural extension of the original bodywork.
The greatest challenge was the wheel arches. At first it might seem logical to simply trace a line parallel to the existing wheel opening. In reality, that approach makes the car look heavy, almost like a tank, and disrupts its proportions.
I had to develop an entirely new arch geometry on the complex, convex surfaces of the C5’s wings. The final shapes resulted from extensive manual adjustment, physical tests and visual corrections.
MATERIAL AND COLOUR
ANIMUS EVO is made from thick, textured protective automotive vinyl that imitates the appearance of moulded plastic trim. The material has a robust feel and is highly resistant to everyday scratching and abrasion. Its thickness also means that precise cutting requires an industrial-grade plotter.
The standard colour is not pure black. It is closer to a very dark graphite. This gives the protective elements a natural plastic-like appearance and works well even on black or dark-blue cars. The factory Citroën C5 CrossTourer was itself available in black, while its original wheel arch trim retained the natural colour of plastic rather than matching the painted body.
A lighter shade may also be possible. I have identified a potentially suitable material, but I have not yet used or tested it for ANIMUS EVO. If you are interested, please contact me so we can discuss the option and whether material and installation tests would be appropriate before placing an order.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE KIT?
Four pre-cut wheel arch elements: precisely shaped pieces supplied with dedicated positioning templates for accurate placement on the Citroën C5 CrossTourer.
Protective vinyl for the front and rear bumpers and side sills: supplied as oversized, uncut sections with additional material allowance. These sections are first applied to the vehicle, then the positioning and cutting templates are placed on top. The installer follows these guides and trims the final shapes manually using a professional vinyl knife (not knifeless cutting tape).
PROFESSIONAL INSTALLATION
ANIMUS EVO is not a simple peel-and-stick product. Installation requires an experienced automotive vinyl specialist, especially around the curved arches, bumpers and sill transitions. Approximately one full working day should be reserved.
The finished edges should be secured with 3M Edge Sealer. The installer must follow the product instructions, confirm compatibility with the chosen film and painted surfaces, and take particular care to avoid damage to the original paint during hand-cutting.
AVAILABILITY, PRICE AND INSTALLATION SUPPORT
ANIMUS EVO is produced exclusively to order. I do not keep finished kits in stock. The indicative price of the material kit is from €700, depending on the current cost of the vinyl. Installation is not included.

VEHICLE COMPATIBILITY
At present, ANIMUS EVO is available only for the Citroën C5 X7 CrossTourer, because the positioning and cutting templates were developed specifically for this version.
In the future, I may create separate templates for the regular Citroën C5 Tourer or even the C5 Sedan. These versions are not currently available. If you are interested, please get in touch and we can discuss whether an individual adaptation might be feasible.
